Ask your documents
First piece of the Intelligence Layer: Ask your documents.
There's now an Ask bar at the top of the Docs page and every project's Documents tab. Type a question the way you'd ask your PM — "what's the retainage on Aroha?", "which subs carry a payment bond requirement?", "how long do we have to notice a delay?" — and you get a short, plain-language answer with numbered citations. Click a citation and the document viewer opens on the cited page.
A few things worth knowing about how it answers:
- It only reads what you could open yourself. Answers come from your organization's documents and the STrOp Wiki — permissions are enforced by the database, the same way as everywhere else in STrOp.
- It cites or it declines. Every claim carries a source. If your documents don't contain the answer, it says so instead of guessing.
- Nothing is saved. Questions and answers aren't stored — close the page and they're gone.
New and updated documents are indexed automatically within the hour. Scanned documents (no machine-readable text) aren't searchable yet — that's on the roadmap, and the document log still tracks them like always.
