Client segmentation — K-12, Higher Ed, public, private

School work isn't one market. A K-12 district and a private college buy differently and schedule differently — summer blackout versus intersession — and a public owner changes the wage picture entirely. Planning next year's maintenance rounds means seeing those cohorts, not one undifferentiated customer list.

Companies now carry two fields that capture it: market segment (K-12, Higher Ed, healthcare, data center, and the rest of the familiar list) and ownership (public or private). Set them on the company page, or select a batch in the directory and set both from the bulk bar in one pass. Filter chips follow the data everywhere — the company directory and the service-agreements list both slice to "K-12 public" in two clicks.

The compliance tie-in is built in: pick a public customer on a new service agreement and it starts as prevailing wage — still editable, but the default now lands on the right side of California public-works rules. And a radar opportunity with no segment of its own inherits the client's when it converts to a pursuit, so bid analytics stay honest by market.
