Formulas in cells, credits from the base bid
Two estimating quality-of-life ships, both born from real bids.
Do the math where you are. Any numeric cell in the estimate builder — quantity, unit
cost, waste, overhead, margin, and the price override — now takes a spreadsheet-style
formula. Start with = and type arithmetic: =8000*1.02/2, =(4.00-3.80)*8000,
=$38,080*1.05. Press Enter or click away and the computed number lands in the cell. A
formula that doesn't parse turns the cell red and commits nothing, so a typo can't write
a bad number into the bid. No more flipping to a calculator and retyping the answer.
Credit a base-bid line into an alternate. Modeling "this scope comes out" used to mean hand-typing a negative price — which freezes one side of the comparison while the computed side keeps moving with tax and markup. Every alternate now has a +Credit button: pick the base-bid line being removed, and STrOp adds a CR mirror of it — same quantity, waste, markup, and any children — priced by the same formulas as everything else. The alternate's net then tracks reality: change the tax rate or a quantity and both sides move together.
Alongside this, alternate line rows now display tax-in prices so the rows you see sum to the alternate's net value, and an alternate whose net disagrees with its Add/Deduct label gets flagged instead of sitting quietly contradictory.
