The photo log, built for the phone and the iPad

The photo log shipped with a mouse in mind. Now it works the way you actually use it — one hand, on a ladder, in the sun.

On a phone

• Camera is the first button. Tap it and the OS camera opens straight into STrOp; the shot goes to the job, not your camera roll. Library is still there for photos you already took.
• Press and hold a photo to start selecting — then tap the rest. Or hit Select in the header if you'd rather see it spelled out. Done exits.
• Swipe between photos in the viewer, and double-tap to zoom in on the spot you tapped — close enough to read a nameplate or a crack. Drag to move around while zoomed.
• Captions now show on the photos themselves. They used to appear on hover, which meant they never appeared at all on a phone.
• Every field is big enough that iOS stops zooming the page in when you tap into it.

On an iPad

Tapping a photo no longer covers the screen. The photo opens in a panel beside the grid, so you can caption one, re-file the next, and keep your place in the roll — the way you'd actually walk a job with a tablet. The grid keeps scrolling next to it.

Fixed along the way

• The download button on each photo was unreachable on a touch screen — it only appeared on hover. Downloading from a phone or iPad now goes through the viewer's Download button, one tap away.
• Picking a photo from the library sometimes staged nothing at all. A timing bug meant the file could be dropped between choosing it and the tray drawing. Fixed.
• The selection bar no longer sits under the home indicator on an iPhone, and printable documents are readable on a phone screen instead of squeezed between wide margins.
