Your spec book, turned into a bid checklist

A 1,400-page project manual holds maybe twenty sections that are actually yours — and missing one on a hard bid is how a sub eats a scope. Finding them all, every time, is the tedious work this release takes over.

Declare your trades once. Tell STrOp the CSI prefixes you bid — 09 65 resilient flooring, 09 30 tile — under Settings → Trade declaration (new companies set this during signup). Bidding something outside your usual scope to give the GC coverage? Add it on that one project without touching your company profile.

Upload the manual, get the register. Tag a document as a Specification and STrOp reads the whole book — the table of contents, every section heading, every page header — and reconciles them into a complete section list with page ranges. This is done by ordinary software reading the document's own structure, not by AI: the same book produces the same list, every time, and nothing your company uploads leaves the platform for it.

Work the checklist. The new Spec Coverage page — inside each project’s Estimate tab, where bid work lives — shows the sections matching your declared trades. Mark each one Priced or Excluded; anything unreviewed is counted — visibly — as your exposure. Every row shows where it came from (how many of the three signals found it, which pages), so you can trust or verify each line.

The manual's own problems, surfaced. Spec books contradict themselves — a section promised in the table of contents that was never issued, a title that changed between the ToC and the section, a "Related Sections" reference to a section that doesn't exist. STrOp flags every one on the affected row, worded as the question you'd put to the architect. On real bid sets we've tested, these flags catch genuine scope changes — the kind that decide whether a line item was ever in your number.
